Mount Vernon City School District holds UPK-3 lottery for 2024-2025 school year

Mount Vernon City School District holds UPK-3 lottery for 2024-2025 school year

The Mount Vernon City School District held its lottery for Universal Prekindergarten for three-year-olds (UPK-3) for the 2024-2025 school year on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. This will be the fourth year the District has offered UPK-3, and 60 spots were available.

“We are very excited to begin the instructional and educational journey of 60 students through our school district,” said Director of UPK Dr. Gayle White-Wallace.

Over 200 families were eligible for the UPK-3 lottery, and they each received specialized numbers for their children. Selections were chosen using a random number generator. Each number corresponds to a student selected for the UPK-3 program. 60 families were also added to a wait list.

Families who were selected will receive a letter and an email by the end of the day on Monday, July 15 notifying them of their selection and the next steps. Families will have 10 business days to complete their registration application at https://www.mtvernoncsd.org/family-community/registration/online-registration

If families do not submit their registration within 10 business days from receipt of the selection email, they will be added to the waitlist, and another family will be chosen. Families are encouraged to complete their registration as soon as they receive the email.

Families must have birth certificates, immunizations, proof they are the parent or legal guardian, a lease or mortgage statement, tax statement for their home and bills that are sent to the home. Copies of all documents must be attached to their registration. Registration is not complete until all documents are uploaded to the system and submitted. Incomplete registrations will be added to the waitlist.

There will be two locations for UPK-3 in the upcoming school year: Friendship for Tots and Our Lady of Victory. Children will be placed in a location depending on their home’s school zone.
